Haiku are meant to act as in the moment observations ... Observations intended to impact the reader in a way that will have a transitory effect in that moment of viscerally holding and reading them ... Much like an intricate Tibetan Sand Mandala ... Often they're created day and night over several days ... Only to be viewed for a few minutes or hours ... then wiped away by the same monks that created them ... The act of creating and then destroying the Mandalas in part symbolizes the impermanence and momentary nature of life ... This is what we literally strive to do with haiku
